EQUESTRIAN TRAININGIt is just as important to teach a horse to work correctly as it is to teach the rider – evolution did not invent the horse to carry a rider. Therefore, a horse has to be taught to be more balanced, comfortable and athletic in order to carry both himself and his rider. This in turn promotes longevity and prolongs his working life. As a qualified (BHS Int/Teach-regd) trainer, Bowen Therapist (Equine, Canine & Human) and professional rider, I offer an alternative approach to the training of horse and rider.
I offer sessions which address the rider’s seat and balance, and how to improve the horse’s ability. My training as a Bowen Therapist, along with coaching from eminent classical dressage trainers, including Charles De Kunffy and Stephen Clarke, has given me a comprehensive knowledge of the correct biomechanics of both horse and rider. As such, I will be able to look at you and your horse, both individually and as a combination. I am able to inform and correct any imbalances in the rider and assess your horse’s musculature and how it affects your performance and ability. I have trained very many horses and riders which has given me an excellent understanding of the problems riders come up against when training. I am able to look at your horse’s physical abilities and am able to address your mental attitude to training, this then enables me to help develop a positive programme that will advance and benefit both you and your horse, thus, making it possible to promote confidence and knowledge. I work freelance in Kent, Essex, Sussex and Surrey. I am available for individual or group lessons or clinics, and also run an annual Summer Camp at Plumpton College in Sussex. If you would like to discuss any problems, have any queries or other issues regarding your training, please do not hesitate to phone me. I shall be very happy to answer your questions and, if you wish, arrange any sessions that you feel will benefit you and your horse.
